I'm having one. Everything hurts. Today is not a good day.
On the other hand, yesterday was fabulous. Cadence got to do a master class with David Skinner, the director of Alamire (http://www.alamire.co.uk/), a choir that came over to sing in All Saints in celebration of the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's coronation. It was absolutely amazing! I feel like I learned more from him in that 45 minutes or so than I did the whole first year of choir in high school. And the concert last night was incredible - their voices are amazing. And Laura, Kristen, Catherine, Erin, Hawkins and I all went to Shenanigan's with them afterwards and just hung out for a while. They're so much fun to talk to! Apparently Catherine and Erin went back to Rebel's Rest with them afterwards and stayed up till like 2:30 in the morning talking with them. I was mildly jealous when I found out but I had class this morning and I don't function well on less than six hours of sleep.
Probably my favorite song Alamire performed last night was "Quam pulcra es."
Quam pulcra es amica mea,
Quam pulcra es et quam decora.
Quam pulcre sunt gene tue,
pulcriora ubera tua vino,
collum tuum sicut monilia,
oculi tui columbarum.
Labia tua, gutur tuum, manus tue,
O amica mea, aperi michi, quia amore langueo.
(Translation from the program)
How beautiful you are, my love!
How beautiful and how comely you are;
How beautiful are your cheeks;
Your breasts are more excellent than wine;
Your neck is like a jewelled necklace;
Your eyes are those of doves.
Your lips, your throat, your hands,
[your belly] and your face are as ivory.
O my love, lay yourself bare for me, for I am faint with love.
It was absolutely gorgeous. If you didn't go to the concert last night you seriously missed out. The picture is from their website.
